The Gates of Hel open for an unforgettable folk metal festival in Viking Valley.
As part of a branding course in my design studies, I developed a complete branding concept for a fictional folk metal festival, focusing on Viking culture. Using a design thinking process, I crafted the festival’s visual language to capture the essence of Norse heritage and the powerful atmosphere of folk metal.
Folk metal is a sub-genre of metal music that combines the heavy sounds of metal with traditional folk music. The style is characterized by lyrics dealing with paganism, nature, fantasy, mythology and history. A derivative of folk metal is Viking metal dealing with Norse mythology and Viking history.
Viking valley, Njardarheimr, 5747 Gudvangen
It is a reconstruction of a Viking village, where visitors can learn about the history, customs, beliefs and daily life of the Vikings. There are shows and displays of Viking combat, mythological stories and workshops on traditional crafts.
