Creating a streamlined and supportive digital assistant for nurses through a task-oriented iPad application.
This project focuses on developing a dedicated iPad application to support nurses during their shifts in internal medicine departments. The app is designed to improve workflow efficiency, streamline critical processes, and reduce cognitive overload by presenting relevant data in an intuitive and task-focused interface.

Current technological solutions for hospital staff focus either on shift scheduling or inventory management, but no single platform integrates clinical task management and personal workflows for nurses:

💼 Intern Nurse
🎓 B.A. in Nursing
Noa is a first-year intern nurse in the internal medicine department. She is highly motivated to learn and grow in her role but frequently feels overwhelmed by the heavy workload and unfamiliar hospital protocols. As she is still adapting to the pace and expectations of the department, she often worries about missing critical steps in patient care or forgetting an important task.

💼 Senior Nurse
🎓 M.A. in Health Systems Management
Galit is a seasoned nurse with more than 20 years of experience. She’s known for her leadership skills and serves as a steady guide for the younger nurses in her department. Despite the immense workload, she always finds a way to stay organized and keep things running smoothly. Galit juggles many tasks — both managerial and clinical — and plays a central role in mentoring interns while overseeing quality of care. Her experience helps her anticipate issues and respond quickly.
To address the challenges uncovered during research, we designed a tailored digital solution: an iPad-based application that empowers nurses with better visibility, task control, and communication in real-time. The app supports nurses through shift-specific task views, patient record accessibility, and seamless information flow between medical staff.
Overview of Daily Activity and Personal Workflow
The main dashboard provides a clear overview of the nurse’s day, including live department statistics (patients, high-risk cases, open tasks), a performance bar chart tracking task completion over time, top-priority tasks, handover updates from the previous shift, and a personal note board for reminders or self-managed to-dos.
Manage, Filter, and Track Your Daily Tasks
This screen allows nurses to view, filter, and manage all assigned clinical tasks. Each card shows urgency level, task type (e.g., medication, documentation), patient info (if applicable), and a short description. A search bar, filters, and layout controls make it easy to prioritize and take action efficiently.
Send and Receive Cross-Department Task Requests
Task Relay facilitates coordination across departments. Nurses can send time-sensitive requests (like consulting specialists from other wards), monitor incoming tasks from other teams, and ensure smooth interdepartmental collaboration through a chat-like interface and real-time updates.
Quick Access to Patient Status and Risk Overview
This screen presents a categorized view of all patients in the department. Nurses can quickly scan each patient’s basic info (age, room, gender), risk level, and admission status. Filters and statistics summarize new admissions, high-risk patients, and upcoming discharges.

Stay Informed About Your Shifts and Team Assignments
This calendar-based screen lets nurses view their upcoming shifts, see key shift details (timing, team members, on-call doctor), and submit requests for shift changes or time off. It promotes transparency and autonomy in managing personal work schedules.
